Hedge Trimming in Sandwich Bay
Coastal gardens, salt air, and a wind that'll do half the trimming for you if it's got a mind to. We know the Bay, the quiet roads, the golf-course boundaries, the estate, and we work out there regularly.
Gardens the sea has a say in
Sandwich Bay gardens aren't like inland gardens. The salt does a number on some species, the wind prunes the exposed sides whether you want it to or not, and sandy soil drains fast. So the hedges that thrive here are the ones that can take it, tamarisk, escallonia, Griselinia, sea buckthorn, hardy privet and the odd hardy laurel in the more sheltered spots.
We trim with all that in mind. Usually gentler on the windward face, firmer on the sheltered side, otherwise you end up with a hedge that leans like it's had a long lunch.
